Yesterday we began sodding patches on #14 green. These areas are historically bad but with extensive tree pruning we are hoping to get more sunlight to the green surface. Once we finish patching #14 we will be moving to #10. We also removed a lot of limbs from the big oak right behind the green. Once we get the patchwork finished we plan on pruning the tree roots that grow in the greens mix. These feeder roots steal water and nutrients from the grass on the greens causing areas to thin out and become weak.
We are finally getting temperatures warm enough to green up the common bermudagrass fairways. In a couple of weeks we should be seeing some growth in the fairways due to the warmer temperatures. We have started spot fertilizing the fairways until we go wall to wall in the next week or so.
