Above is a USGA article about the benefits of top dressing greens. I have had some questions about why we top dress greens on our closed maintenance days. I decided to post a link to an article from the USGA explaining why this is a good thing. This has been and will be a continuous practice during the growing season.
Thank you and hope everyone comes out to enjoy the Warm weather.

Lakeway Cup
Final round of Lakeway Cup today. Team Live Oak has a slim 1 point lead on Team Yaupon. Should be an exciting finish to this years Cup. Greens were mowed and rolled(rolling Great). New fairways are holding up well so please remember to Fill all Divots. Good luck to both teams.

Opening Day
We have come a long way in the last few months. Tomorrow Friday the 13th we will be open for morning tee times followed by our first Round of the Lakeway Cup. In the morning players will need to get a pinsheet as we will have out our white tournament flags all day. Good luck to Guys playing in the Cup and May the best course win. A reminder from the email sent out-we will be Cart Path Only on holes #11 and #16. We are also going to play winter rules as we open back up for play. As for carts we will be mostly 90 degrees- I ask that if you see a thin area or worn area please take a different route back to the cart path.(This is always good practice at any course to not beat down one area)
Thanks and have fun. The guys worked extremely hard this summer so my hat is off to the crew

Update.
Monday and Tuesday Yaupon will be closed for aerification and vertical mowing. The course is holding up well with the heat and lack of rainfall this summer. This will be the third and fourth closed day of the summer. I would like to thank the GCM staff for all the hard work through the summer so far. Live Oak fairways are coming... still fertilizing weekly along with mowing. We have laid a couple of trucks of sod with one more load scheduled for Tuesday. I began rolling the fairways this week in hopes to smooth them out as much as possible. Looking forward to opening Live Oak in September to Cart Path Only.

Course update.
This week we sodded a few areas at Live Oak. It was mainly some approaches that were a little thin. Yaupon collars are finally starting to transition from the winter ryegrass-leaving some thin areas on the collars. We are closed 8/12-8/13 for aerification at Yaupon and we will make sure to aerify those collars. Her are a few pictures from athe sod work at Live Oak...

Today we started mowing the front 9 fairways. Looking to get them mowed and then apply another round of fertilizer this weekend.
