Today Thursday 2/21/19 we are applying our summer pre-emerge at Yaupon. We are going a week earlier and at a heavier rate to try and get ahead of the crab and goose grass this year. We will apply the product to the green complexes and tee complexes next week weather permitting at Live Oak. We are continuing to spike and vent the greens at Live Oak and Yaupon. We are spiking and venting the greens to help get oxygen to the roots after the over 30" of rain we have had since September. The course is in need of warmer temperatures and more sunshine to help us start growing. The winter pattern has been maybe one day of sun (at best) and the rest cloudy and wet. Once we get multiple days of sun in a row we can start to combat the algae formation we are seeing on the greens. We are continuing to stay on top of the situation and are ready to break out of this miserably weather pattern we have seen all winter.

LCC Greens update
As we are waking up to another cloudy misty day I wanted to touch base with everyone on the green conditions. Over the past several weeks we have seen cloudy, high humidity, and warmer than normal temperatures. This is a perfect setup for high disease pressure -- We have been spraying greens at both locations fairly regular to prevent disease symptoms. Live Oak at the moment has shown more signs of the disease so we are going to start spiking and pencil (solid) tine aerify more regular to allow the roots to get air and breath. Yaupon, I know people have notice they are slowing down due to the warm temperatures and optimal growing temps for the overseed. With this being said we will continue to monitor greens and adjust our GCM practices accordingly. We really need the sun to shine again hopefully soon and keep from getting that late season cold snap. Today at Live Oak we are spiking the greens and rolling behind- Thursday we will run the small solid tines over the greens and roll (this will be the plan for the next few weeks).

Neighborhood Watch
Anyone living around Live Oak golf course needs to keep an eye out for vandals tearing up the course. Electric meters glass being broken, toilets being broken (13 bathroom out of order this weekend), and tee markers and stuff missing. Please mention to your neighbors to keep eye out too. Police have been notified and we hope to catch the vandals. This has been happening all week.
