Yaupon #10

As many people have noticed we did some clearing right of #10 green at Yaupon.  The guys went in and cleared some of the under growth and trimmed up the trees. We then planted some tall fescue in the area. It looks great now and we will see how it will do during the hot summer months. If you have not see the area take a look next time you are on 10.

Live Oak

Today we got the refurbished front sign back out and mounted.  I think the staff did a great job on getting it fixed up and mounting it at the front entrance.

Frost delay

Probably 8:30-9:00 delay. We will adjust as needed.

Overseeding Update

Both courses are doing well after overseeding. With all the rain last week we fell behind mowing the fairways and tees but should get caught up this week. It will take a few mowings to get a good quality cut. Last week we were able to cut in front of the Red tees on #3 Live Oak. This should improve the ability for red tees players to see more of the green from the tee.  We also were able to clear back the narrow shoot on #4 for the blue and gold tee players.

Course and bunker update.

We are continuing to work on mowing rough. We know it is long in many areas. The mower is moving around as fast as he can. With all the rain and now the sunshine it is growing very rapidly. 

The bunkers at Yaupon should still be played as ground under repair. With 15" of rain last week we are trying to get around and check the depths as they have washed down some. Hopefully we will get to rake them by this weekend.

Course Update.

After all the rain we have had the courses will be cart path only. We have been able to mow tees and most of the fairways. The cut is not great due to the length of the grass and there will be clippings around the course. Yaupon bunkers will be played as ground under repair because we will not be able to start checking sand depths until next week. Lastly we will try and topdress greens at Yaupon on Monday weather permitting. 

Fire Ants are out so be careful- we will try to treat those at Yaupon Monday and live oak Thursday. It needs to be dry to apply the bait.

Rain and Aerification Updates

As of this morning we have had around 12" of rain. As you can imagine the courses are extremely wet. Also with the excessive rainfall we need to watch out for the fire ants that are coming up to the surface. When we dry out we will again treat for the ants. Aerification plans changed due to the weather. We are in the process of aeifying the greens. Instead of pulling a core we decided to use a solid tine. With everything so wet we decided this is the best option to at least get some air movement through the soil base.

Rain

Aerification  was washed out again this morning at Yaupon. According to the LCRA rainfall summary we have had 10.77" over the past week. There is a lot of water and debris over both courses. Along with that the rough, fairways, and tees will be pretty long. It may be a few days before we can try and start mowing some of these areas. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we try to catch back up.

Rain is back.

The rain has returned to our area. As of this morning we had around 5". 

Yaupon is closed for Aerification today and reopening of Friday. We will try and start the Aerification on Tuesday since today looks like a washout.

Live Oak Water Station.

We added a water station on Live Oak #4 restroom. 

Mowing

Today we are finally able to get the fairway mowers out at both courses. With all the rain we were unable to mow fairways last week but on Monday. The first mowing is going to not look good but as we are able to mow again it will get back to normal. Rough is long in many spots also. We will continue to try and get caught up as fast as possible. We mowed the aerified greens at Live Oak on Sunday and will start regular mowing in the mornings on Tuesday. As we mow them daily it will begin to cut better as the sand works in. 

Aerification at Live Oak

Today we started aerifying greens at Live Oak. We will be closed until Thursday (open Friday). 

Fertilization

We were able to fertilize the fairways today at Live Oak and Yaupon. This should set us up for a good beginning of the year. 

Hydraulic leak

Today we had a hydraulic leak on #14 green at Yaupon. We will monitor the area and make a decision on our next plan of action. We might end up needing to sod the line. In the mean time it will yellow out where the oil hit the green.

Aerification update

We were able to get Yaupon aerified and topdressed despite the rains. 

With the rains, we have not been able to mow very much at all this week. Roughs, fairways, and tees will be longer than normal. We will continue to do our best to get caught up as soon as possible. Thank you and we appreciate your understanding.

Aerification

After a rain delay yesterday we were able to start Yaupon greens aerification. We are working hard to catch up and be ready for Friday's reopening. We hope the weather will cooperate the next couple of days.

We will be cart path only today. Last night we had over 1.5" of rain.

Live Oak Tree Update

We are excited to plant 4 Monterrey oaks in the area between 18 and 10 fairway this week.  This is part of our tree replacement plan and look forward to planting some more this fall and winter. 

Last Week Rains

With the  well needed rain last week we fell behind on mowing. Fairways, tees, and especially rough are very tall. We will spend this week trying to mow as much as possible to get us back in shape. Also With the rain we have seen numerous ant mounds popping up. So please keep your eyes open and be careful.

Irrigation on #1

In an effort to help the rough right of 1 fairway we have added 2 addition sprinkler heads. This should help water coverage in the area and help with grass coverage. Our hopes are with potentially thicker rough it should aid in less ball roll out from the tee shot.

New Drop Area

We are glad to announce the opening of the new drop area on #3 Live Oak. The mat will make for a more playable and consistent lie to hit off of.

Frost Delay

Today we are looking at a frost delay probably in the 9:30 range. As of 7:00 at the Yaupon shop the temperature is 30 degrees. 

Cold Start today

Today we have no frost delay but a cold 38 with high winds. With lots of sun the Friday LMGA is on time with at 9:00 start at Live Oak.
