Live Oak Fairways

After the cold weather last week--We started spraying fairways with tracker dye and iron to give some definition to the non-overseeded fairways at Live Oak. This procedure will continue through the winter months as needed ( probably every 3 weeks).
The pro shop will continue sending out emails this winter with Frost Delay Updates. The GCM staff appreciate your patience on these frosty cold mornings.

Cart Path Repair

We have started repairing some of the cart paths at Live Oak. We are going to slowly work around the course repairing the worst cart path sections. So please be on the lookout for cones blocking areas being repaired

Action Item

Live Oak bunkers on #18 have been repaired. We were able to add sand and remove grass runners in the 3 bunkers this morning.

Yaupon Opening

Yaupon will be open tomorrow--Friday 11/2. We will have many wet areas especially around the greens. Please try and avoid these areas.

Overseed

Today we started our overseeding at Yaupon. We will be seeding tees, fairways, and greens. Yaupon will reopen for play on Friday 11/2. Live oak will be open today and next Monday for member play. Thanks and have a great day.

Leak update

The leak by the green on #1 at Yaupon next to the cart path has been repaired. This should help to dry out the area around the green.

Leak

We have started to repair a low pressure leak left of the cart path on #1 at Yaupon. This repair may take a couple of days but should solve most of the saturated area left and in front of #1 green. We will get the leak repaired a filled in as fast as we can. We would all love to see this area dried up as soon as possible.

Live Oak Driving Range

The Live Oak DR Tee will be closed starting today until Tuesday 11/16. We are overseeding the tee and want to give the seed time to start growing. We will be MATS ONLY with only irons. Please walk around the tee to get to the mats. We will be roping off the tee. Thank you for your cooperation.

Fall PreEmerge application

Today at Live Oak we made our fall pre emerge application. This application is made to reduce weed population over the fall and winter months.
Next Monday we will close the Driving Range tee for a week or so for overseeding. The mats will be open for use.

New flags

We have replaced the flags and flag sticks at Live Oak. This will help golfers with pin locations especially with the blue flags. Thanks--Tyler

Aerification

We started our last aerification at Yaupon this morning. We are using a solid tine and light verticutting.

Trees

Live Oak has started removing some limbs and trees Around the course. Yaupon will be closed Monday and Tuesday for aerification. This is the last aerification at Yaupon for the year. Live Oak will be open for play Monday.

Rain in July

Recent rains have produced around 2.50" of rain. It will be cart path only today at both courses. The rain is always welcome with more predicted today. As we know with the rain the ants are back--so please watch your step. Thank you

We completed our scheduled ant bait application at Yaupon and the front 9 at Live Oak. We will finish Live Oak on Monday. We hope you can get out this weekend and enjoy the course.

Green Work at Yaupon

We are working on bringing the Yaupon Greens out to make them a little larger and establish a good greens edge.  You will see some scalping after mowing the new edge at Yaupon.  White dots mark the new edges.

Ants

Warning - The recent rains have been good for the courses but it also flushes out the ants.  We are in the process of treating the mounds but it will take a little time.  So in the meantime, please be careful and watch where you step.

Hydro-seeding Thin Areas at Live Oak

Today we started seeding some of the areas that we did not sod, with bermuda grass seed.  The blueish color is from a paper-like mulch added to help hold the seed in place.  We will continue to be cart path only for a few more weeks.  Thank you for your cooperation. Tyler

As you know we have closed Live Oak through April 24th, reopening on April 25th so we may do some sod work on the course.  Below are a few pictures of the process where we will be bringing in 5 truck loads of sod.

Aerification at Yaupon

It is time for the first round of aerification to Yaupon greens and tees. We will be closed Monday and Tuesday for this application. Live oak WILL be open Monday because of the closure to Yaupon.

Progress on #18 Cart Path at Yaupon

The cement has been removed from the middle of the fairway on #18 at Yaupon.  We have laid the sod and are working on getting the irrigation just right for the new areas of grass.  Please be sure to keep to the left side of the green and remember it is cart path only once you are across the water until further notice.  We hope you like these improvements!

Fountain in the Pond at Live Oak #18

We have removed the old fountain and have installed a slightly smaller fountain at Live Oak.  We are happy to see it running again and hope you are too!

Yaupon Green Side Bunker Update

Great News! The green side bunker renovation is complete at Yaupon!  Take a look at #11 in the picture below.  This was after a quick rake after all the rain earlier this week.  They are draining better than anticipated.  Remember if you DO hit into any of the bunkers, after you hit out, rake and then exit on the low side please and not out of any of the steeper edges.  This will give time to the sod around the bunkers to grow in well.  It also keeps you from having to try to rake any foot prints left on the steeper side where you exited.

Back 9 bunker update

Today we started spraying and sodding around the bunkers on the back 9.
Please be careful around the edges of the bunkers when retrieving your golf ball-- These areas will be weak until sod roots down.
Sand installation should start Thursday.

Front 9 bunkers OPEN

As of Friday 3/2 the front 9 bunkers will be open for play.
Play out of the bunkers but continue to play NEW SOD as ground under repair.

Back 9 green side bunkers will remain under repair.
Please watch out for hole closed sign on the back 9.

Started spraying the polymer over the gravel in the green side bunkers at Yaupon today.
Reminder starting tomorrow ALL green side bunkers will be played as Ground Under Repair. Thank you for your cooperation

Progress Continues

A quick update on where we are with the bunker renovations!  Tomorrow they will be spraying the polymer on the gravel followed by adding the sand on Friday.  They have shaped out holes 1-7 as of today and will soon move over to #9. 

Pro Shop Reminder -  you should play all front 9 green side bunkers as ground under repair until further notice.  this will include bunkers and the fresh sod around the bunker complexes.
