Today was first day of Live Oak spring aerification. We will be closed through Wednesday- we are going to finish putting out pre emerge to fairway, tees, and rough, aerify, vertical mow, and topdress greens and get out soil amendments for the greens. When we reopen on Thursday we expect the greens to be sandy- we will do some rolling and mowing to the greens in the afternoons when dry- we will work around play so please be patient if we are trying to finish up a green. #1 Green Live Oak
Update on #1 green at Live Oak. We have been getting some questions about #1 green and thin areas mainly on the back and left side of the green. This mainly is a Shade issue- Bermuda grass especially mowed at low heights needs to have sunlight and minimal shade to grow and be healthy. This area unfortunately is in the shade until about 10:00 now and even longer in the winter months. We will continue to hand spike, topdress, and apply granular fertilizer weekly to keep it filling in. We are still needing warmer combined temperatures to really see the improvement. Our upcoming aerification May 1- May 3 will also aid in recovery. The sand and the spiking is being done to reduce the algae formation on the surface. Thank you and we enjoy seeing everyone out and playing our courses.

LO. Maintenance Monday.
Here are a couple of pictures from today Greens venting….
This has minimal disruption but does worlds of good for our greens. It helps the low cut greens reduce compaction, helps water move in the profile, and lets the soil profile breathe. We are glad that the time change hit this weekend— this helps us get more sun to the greens that are in the shade most of the morning in the winter months (examples #1, #2, #11). These greens are getting extra care such as added granular fertilizer and topdressing. The longer hours of sun and sand will also help with the algae formation. Once we get consistent warm temperatures it will help the areas fill in and the extra fertilizer will get them moving.
Thanks for everyone getting out and supporting the associations. We have had great turn outs on each groups play days and it is a great way for everyone to meet new members of the club.

Greens Maintenance
This coming Monday we are going to vent greens at Live Oak. Now that weather is warming up and the amount of play we have had lately at Live Oak- we need to relieve the greens of the extra compaction they have received. The holes will be minimal and they will be lightly sanded and rolled for couple days after the process. We will take a few before and after pictures on Monday when we are done.
Thank you for the cooperation and keep coming out and having fun playing golf with us.

Storm cleanup
Ice storm cleanup has started at Live Oak. I know there has been questions about the process.. We have brought in a company full of certified arborists to make sure our tress and trimmed correctly to give us the best results. I know the communication has gone out about the massive amount of damage we have had. The main concern is getting all the hangers out of the trees. This is done for the safety of you are members along with our employees. We appreciate everyone understanding in this process. Here are couple of pics from the cleanup…
